مقدمه

The control of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) is one of the most important challenges for ergonomic specialists worldwide, and WHO reported that 40% of compensation paid to workers is related to WMSDs. Recently, a high prevalence of these disorders has been reported among office workers, and many physical and organizational risk factors were effective in their occurrence. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of physical and organizational ergonomic risk factors on WMSDs of the official staff in Golgohar Iron and Steel Development Company.

مواد و روش‌ها

This descriptive-analytical study was conducted cross-sectionally in 1402. The statistical population was 185 people who were sampled by census method and finally 164 volunteers were included in the study. The Cornell musculoskeletal disorders questionnaire (CMDQ) was used to evaluate WMSDs, which assess the pain frequency, pain intensity, and interference in the person's function, and the final score for the body organs is between 0 and 90. To evaluate occupational stress, the HSE occupational stress questionnaire consisting of 35 questions and 7 dimensions was used. Questions are graded on a Likert scale from 1 to 5. The final stress score and its dimensions are between 1-5, where a lower score indicates a higher stress. The degree of compliance of workstations with ergonomic indicators was evaluated using the ergonomic audit checklist including 30 national and international standard indicators (ILO and OSHA). Scoring of non-conformity, semi-conformity, and conformity states was equal to zero, 1, and 2, respectively, and the final score was in the range of zero to 60 and in three levels: unfavorable, semi-favorable, and favorable. Data were analyzed with SPSS-V20 using Mann-Whitney and Spearman tests at a significance level of 0.05.

یافته‌ها

The average age and work experience of the people were 34.4 and 8.7 years, respectively. The most prevalence of WMSDs were related to the lower back (61.5%), neck (61%) and knees (45%). The mean final score of occupational stress was 3.73 and in general 56% and 44% of people had low and medium stress levels, respectively. The mean degree of compliance of the workstations with ergonomic standards indicators was equal to 37.6, and in general, 75.5% and 24.5% of workstations had semi- favorable and favorable levels. Age and work experience, job stress and non-conformity with ergonomic standards had a significant direct relationship with the occurrence of WMSDs.

نتیجه‌گیری

The most prevalence and severity of WMSDs were related to the lower back, neck and knee areas. All staffs had a low and moderate level of occupational stress, and the dimensions of demand, control and changes had the greatest contribution to the occurrence of stress. The workstations were relatively favorable in terms of ergonomic standards. Physical risk factors such as improper posture, repetitive movements of limbs, prolonged sitting, non-ergonomic desks and chairs, and unfavorable layout of workstations, as well as organizational risk factors such as job stress, played a major role in the occurrence of WMSDs.
